    The Jane Austen Regency Token

A letter worth waiting across the room for.

If an exchanged glance and an undelivered letter can sustain your interest for several chapters, this is your sort of correspondence. The Jane Austen Regency Token brings that Austen-like anticipation to a personal note: a figure holds a letter on one fold, with its intended recipient on the opposite side. Flowers, hearts and a couple framed by leafy branches complete the romance. Write your own affection, appreciation or encouragement at the centre, then fold it closed. Not every declaration needs a drawing room full of witnesses.

The design is based on a puzzle purse by E. W. of New England, dated 1790. These intricately folded paper tokens were used as handmade valentines in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, revealing verses and sentiments as each section opened. This modern keepsake revives that pleasure of discovery, making the unfolding part of the message. For a reader drawn to Austen’s world of letters and courtship, it’s a small ritual worth bringing back: a few considered words, in your handwriting, for someone to keep.
