This pin from Literary Emporium symbolises the kidnap of Persephone, daughter of Zeus and Demeter, by Hades, god of the underworld.
The myth of Persephone's abduction by Hades was frequently used in Ancient Greece to explain the cycle of the seasons. The months Persephone spent with Hades each year in the underworld represented the dark winter months, while the summer and spring months were those spent by Persephone with her mother Demeter, the goddess of fertility.
The pin is made from white hard enamel and gold-toned metal. It is around 4 cm in size and features two butterfly clasps at the back for secure fastening.
Please note that it is unavoidable that small scratches or marks may be visible on the pin due to the amount of shiny gold metal that makes up the surface area. We will do everything we can to ensure your pin arrives in good condition.
This Persephone pin is a fabulous gift for a lover of Greek mythology. You can see more mythology-inspired gifts here.
